MacNeill Group Inc. was founded in 1946 by Frank MacNeill and his son, Malcolm, in Sanford, Florida, as Frank R. MacNeill and Son. After relocating to Miami in its second year, the company prospered as a traditional managing general agent writing a mix of both personal and commercial lines business.

Since its inception, MacNeill has been known as an innovator dedicated to the Independent Agent.  Over the course of its life, the company has expanded from a small participant in the South Florida insurance community to a major player statewide in the insurance industry.

Today, MacNeill continues to support Florida agents by providing a diversity of products in personal, commercial, flood and transportation lines along with service that is beyond compare.  MacNeill also provides a wide array of program management and business process outsourcing (BPO) services to insurance carriers.  These offerings include business plan development, financial modeling, new product R&D, actuarial services, policy management, premium billing, portfolio assumption management, agency management, claims management, analytical services and corporate/statutory accounting.

Among the highlights of our six decades in business:

• 1946 Frank R. MacNeill and Son founded in Sanford, Florida. • 1947 Office relocates to Miami, Florida. • 1979 Office relocates from downtown Miami to Doral. • 1980 “Mr. Mac” retires; Malcolm MacNeill becomes President. • 1983 MacNeill partners with American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida and becomes the second carrier approved under the National Flood Insurance Program’s “Write Your Own” (WYO) flood insurance program. • 1989 Malcolm MacNeill retires and sells stock to London-based Jardine Insurance Brokers. • 1989 Tom Rogan named President. • 1990 Company takes on new name: Jardine MacNeill. • 1992 Hurricane Andrew hits South Florida. • 1993 MacNeill appointed as a Service Provider for FRPCJUA (now known as Citizens). • 1994 MacNeill expands statewide from its Miami base. • 1995 Name changed to Jardine MacNeill. • 1995 MacNeill takes on its first Florida Domestic Insurance Company Client (Argus Insurance Company) for Program Management. • 1997 Douglas W. Bullington, a 17-year employee, named President.

• 1997 Company becomes the first in Florida and just the ninth nationally to receive the Certified Managing General Agency designation from the AAMGA (American Association of Managing General Agents). • 1999 Company relocates to its current location in Sunrise, Florida. • 2000 Focus Holdings LLC is formed by Doug Bullington and long-time executive Kevin M. Tromer to acquire MacNeill; company is renamed MacNeill Group Inc. • 2005 MacNeill Group awarded a contract to become a Service Provider for Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation. Company begins work in late August, adjusting more than 40,000 claims for victims of Hurricane Katrina. • 2005 MacNeill recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work in South Florida” by the South Florida Business Journal – its first of three consecutive awards. • 2006 Professional Insurance Agents of America (PIA) recognizes MacNeill as the first-ever recipient of its national “MGA of the Year Award”. • 2009 Kevin Tromer named President of MacNeill Group. • 2010 MacNeill launches their redesigned website.
