General Contractors

Our coverage is available for commercial General Contractors and residential General Contractors who have administrative or managerial responsibility for commercial and residential construction projects. These contractors supervise work performed by direct employees and insured subcontractors. Residential and commercial contractors include:

  • General Contractors (state restrictions apply for new residential construction)
  • Remodeling General Contractors
  • Owner/Builders acting as General Contractors
  • Paper Contractors (100 percent subcontracted work)

Coverage/Limits Available

  • General Liability limits up to $2MM/$3MM
  • Umbrella/Excess limits up to $25MM
  • Minimum premiums as low as $500 or $750 (depending on class and limit)
  • Waiver of Subrogation, blanket additional insured available (owners, lessees or contractors), primary/non-contributory, per project aggregate limits
  • Employee Benefits Liability
  • Tool and Equipment Floater

Prohibited Operations

  • Discontinued operations coverage
  • Underpinning or soil stabilization operations or earthquake reinforcing or retrofitting
  • Risks with past/pending construction defect claims
  • Asbestos removal, environmental services, or mold/spore treatment and removal
  • Fire and water restoration contractors
  • Use of EIFS (synthetic stucco) prohibited with the exception of:
    • Commercial metal/steel/frame structures only
    • Restricted to new construction method with drainage channel
    • Operations with at least three years experience
    • No prior claims associated with EIFS application
