Halfway House Program
Our Halfway House Program is designed for health care and social services facilities offering voluntary outpatient and/or temporary stay services. The Halfway House Program only covers facilities providing refuge for clients who enter voluntarily. This program does not cover court-ordered placements.
Outpatient Services Covered
- Aftercare and support programs (AA, Al-Anon, etc.)
- Crisis, counseling or guidance centers (rape, domestic violence, etc.)
- Non-medical drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers
Temporary Stay Services Covered
- Crisis Centers (rape, domestic violence, displacements due to fire or other disasters)
- Homeless shelters for families or adults
- Mission or settlement houses (with beds)
General Liability Underwriting and Rating Considerations
- Up to $1MM/$2MM limit (Umbrella available)
- Rate based on square feet
- Sexual/Physical Abuse coverage mandatory and included at $25,000/$50,000 for no charge (excluded under Umbrella). Higher limits up to $100,000/$300,000 available.
- Errors and Omissions mandatory with limits up to General Liability rated separately per bed (inpatient) or per 1,000 visits (outpatient)
- Any off-premises health care services provided under Home Health Care Program
- Submit any physician-owned facilities
Prohibited
- Birth control, pregnancy or abortion counseling or clinics
- Blood testing
- Children under 18 years old (unless guardian resides on premises)
- Court-ordered placements
- Detoxification facilities
- Dialysis
- Employed or contracted physicians on staff
- Foster homes
- Health care clinics
- Hired and non-owned auto
- Hospice facilities
- In-patient facilities
- Infusion therapy services
- Methadone or other drugs administered as part of the treatment process
- Physical therapy
- Prisoners on work-release or rehabilitation
- Psychiatric institutions
- Youth hostels
