1.  Make sure to provide a name and address of the client and business.

This basic information is often submitted incomplete. The underwriters cannot begin the process without this vital information. The highlighted sections are the most important and completing these sections will get things off on the right foot.

2. Complete the liability limits.

The underwriter will need to know how much coverage the client wants. There is some information that the underwriter can find online and discover on their own if need be, but the desired limits must come from the agent and insured.126-liability-limits-darth-vader-information-2
3.  Describe the business.

The underwriter can’t rate the business unless they know exactly what it is. Every business is different, and they deserve to be provided with the best policies for their unique needs.

4.  Provide description of the building.

This is the most important piece that an underwriter will need. When it comes to insuring your client’s building or buildings, they will need specifics like construction, year built, and total area.

Below is an example of an active business description:

5.  Complete the Property limits.

How much does the building currently cost? What is the total cost of everything inside of the building? Remember that being as specific as possible on limits can potentially save an agent from problems in the long run.

Anything more that is provided will always help an underwriter to get the job done faster. By following these simple guidelines, agents can surely pave the way to a smarter, smoother, and speedier road to receiving quality quotes.
